Whether you are new to educational development or have been working in the field for years, there are few ways better to learn about practice than visiting other institutions and talking with colleagues. There are some formal, funded opportunities, listed below. There are other informal ways. Simply asking to visit can be one way, although do bear in mind the impact of a visit on the host. Another is to offer to run workshops or events. The host institution can reciprocate by running an event in your centre. Not only does this provide the opportunity to see how others run their centres, but it can create interest in a topic. A visiting speaker, even if they say the same thing as the resident is often able to attract a larger audience purely through the novelty factor.
- EDGES - EDC Grants for Exchanges - EDC in Canada offers funds to members for exchanges between educational development centres.
- Erasmus Program in the EU provides funds that can be used for exchanges for educational developers.
